Support Groups

Lake Pointe Counseling Center Brochure For Fall 2011

Support groups are small groups of people interested in the support of others who are facing similar challenges. The groups are structured around the topic, led by trained facilitators, and are a great resource for building relationships while growing through life’s challenges.

:: Support Groups

Single & Parenting Group
Begins Thursday, February 2 • 7:00 pm • Room W 212
This group is designed to minister to divorced, widowed and never-married single parents. It combines Christ-centered, biblical hope and healing for single parents with practical strategies to help them develope parenting skills.

Cause, Effect & Treatment of ADHD/ADD
Begins Thursday, February 2 • 7 pm • Rm. W204
This group will be for adults to address the issues of having ADHD/ADD or for parents of children dealing with those issues.

Infertility Support
For those who need support and encouragement for their journey through infertility and miscarriage. Contact the counseling center at 469.698.2250.

Untangling Relationships
Begins Thursday, February 2 • 7 pm • Rm. W206
A support group to help understand and learn how to change relationship patterns which in the past have resulted in hurt and anger.

Boundaries
Begins Thursday, February 9 • 7 pm • Rm. W208
Discovering our God-given rights and responsibilities, which enable freedom in relationships and increased personal control.

Grief Support (Ongoing)
Thursdays • 7 pm • Rm. A158
A supportive group for those who have lost a loved one. Open each week to new members.

Divorce Care
Begins Thursday, February 2 • 7 pm • Rm. W214
A supportive group for those experiencing the pain of separation and in the process of divorce.

Divorce Recovery
Begins Thursday, February 2 • 7 pm • Rm. W220
A recovery process for those rebuilding their lives after a divorce.

Support for Family of Those That Are Incarceratedy
Meets second Tuesday of each month, Annex C at 6:30 pm

First Place 4 Health

This 12-week program emphasizes weight loss and living a balanced, Christ-centered life. Orientation meetings are required to participate and will be held on the following dates at the Rockwall campus:

Cancer Support Group (Ongoing)

For those diagnosed with cancer to receive encouragement, education, resources, and periodic special speakers.

Divorce recovery for children grades 3 - 5.

Boys Mentoring

Recovery for Life

Using a Christ-centered 12-step program approach, Recovery for Life addresses life-controlling issues such as substance abuse, codependency, dysfunctional relationships and sexual impurity.

This Bible study is held in a safe and confidential environment where you can find healing and peace through God’s word.

Anger Management Group

Adoption Home Studies

Professional Christian Counseling
When facing life’s deeper and more difficult issues, the Bible recommends that we seek wise counsel. Lake Pointe meets this need by providing onsite, Christ-centered professional counseling. Both male and female counselors are available. Fees are lower than comparable services in our community. For further information or to make an appointment, call 469.698.2250.

Stephen Ministry
One-on-one caregiving ministry. Trained, caring believers reach out through listening, prayer, and support to those going through a tough time. For a confidential conversation, call Carolyn Wheat, Stephen Ministry Coordinator, 214.246.3443.

Building A Better Marriage
Next Seminar: March 24

Presented two times a year, this three-and-a-half-hour seminar is for married and pre-married couples. Presenters include:
